Electric Fencing:
Maclin Power Fencing - Electric Fence Supply and Construction:
Game Fencing:
1999 - Maclin Power Fencing branched out into the field of electrified game fencing with our first contract being awarded by Karongwe Game for the electrification of their perimeter game fence and the design and construction of an elephant boma for the temporary containment of captured relocated elephants.
During this time, we worked closely with nature conservation and veterinary departments to establish a standard in the game fencing industry. This was due to the fact that there were no set standards and uniformity in construction and electrification; the majority of existing game electric fences being totally inadequate for the containment of the game species within, due firstly to the fact that most fences had inadequate or no earthing systems, and secondly that energiser units were being over extended.

Offset Bracket Design and Manufacture:
In 2002, due to difficulties in obtaining the large quantities of offset brackets which we required for our contracts, we established our own offset bracket manufacturing plant in Tzaneen. We designed the triple (live/earth/live) bracket, which has proved highly successful and is used extensively in the game industry today for the control of predators. Our offset earth adaptor bracket was designed to render a live/earth scenario onto a fence which had been constructed with no earth wire. This bracket has been used on a number of game fences, including the Kruger National Park fence to upgrade existing inadequate electrification.
We manufacture and stock a full range of offset brackets.

Tiger Proof Fence:
2002 - We were approached by wildlife conservationist and film maker, John Varty, to design and construct a tiger proof electric fence in the Northern Cape. As there was no existing construction of this nature anywhere else in the world, we had to learn about the capabilities of these athletic animals prior to the design of the electric fence. With a limited budget, this fence was designed as cost effectively as possible, but at the same time ensuring that it would contain the exotic species assigned to it.

Consultation - Namibia:
2004 - Erindi Ranch (180 kilometres) - We were employed to consult and train Erindi personnel in the construction of offset electrification, installation of energiser stations and the maintenance of their game fence including the establishment of a spray program for the eradication of vegetative growth on the fence line.
Gabion River Construction - Tiger Canyon (N Cape) / Erindi Ranch (Namibia):
2003 - We added another aspect to our portfolio by successfully designing and constructing numerous Gabion River crossings with electrified swing gates and flood gate controllers in order to contain game in areas with rising water levels in the wet season.
